The Virginia Outdoor Writers Association (VOWA) enthusiastically welcomes individuals who work in our field of outdoor communications. By becoming part of our group, you will become part of an exceptional circle of colleagues with a fine tradition—since 1963—of writing excellence and artistic expression about Virginia’s magnificent outdoors.

Additional benefits include invitations to meetings and conferences, newsletters, craft improvement events, periodic updates about member accomplishments, and exciting seasonal activities. These events provide the opportunity to explore many of the natural areas of our Commonwealth, and always include storytelling and learning opportunities—as well as time for relaxing on nearby rivers or hiking in forests and fields.Most importantly, you will come to value the special friendships that result from joining a network of professionals who all share a passion for the outdoors. Members learn from each other and make valuable contacts that aid in career development.

There are no fees required to become a member. We only ask that you consider making a donation to cover our operational costs.
