VOWA Members,
We are sure many of you have wondered what is going on with VOWA. Earlier this summer the board started a process to revitalize the organization. To fill you all in, we’ve scheduled an annual meeting on Thursday, September 18, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. It will be an online meeting via Zoom. Details and agenda to follow.
Background
When the Chairman, President and Vice President stepped down from their leadership roles, it created an opportunity to assess the current state of VOWA governance and consider actions to continue forward. We firmly believe that continuing VOWA is worth doing with some modifications to structure and governance.
Plan
Continue with a virtual presence with the website (VOWA.org.)
Revenue will come from donations rather than dues
A majority vote of the board will consider and approve members
An interim set of officers (see below) to serve until an election at an annual meeting later this year
Existing board members continue to serve until an election at the annual meeting
The constitution and bylaws be revised and presented to the members for consideration and adoption at the annual meeting
Interim officers
President: Tom Sadler
Vice President: Jennifer Hemsley
Secretary: Nancy Sorrells
Treasurer: Milan Marjarov
Carolyn Maloney will continue maintaining the website and assuming the banking and financial duties. Milan will continue as VOWA's treasurer for reporting purposes. Carolyn has agreed to transition to treasurer in the near future.
